I know it’s a busy time of year and a time for family and celebration.
And it’s also the time of year when we stress ourselves out over all the details.
So in the midst of the hustle and bustle, how do we accomplish our business goals without making ourselves crazy?
It’s not as complicated as you might think.
First and foremost, PRIORITIZE your time. Time is at a premium this time of year. YOU CAN’T AFFORD TO LET IT SLIP AWAY.
Take out your calendar and DECIDE when you will work on your business. I know this seems trivial but IT IS URGENT that you do it.
If you think of your calendar as just a reminder of your upcoming appointments, think again. It is so much more!
You see, if you want to know what is really important to you, look at where you spend your time and money. How you REALLY spend your time and money.
You wouldn’t dare spend your money without keeping a record of where it is going! (At least I hope not and if you are, is this working for you? Check out the Compass MAP, Check to Monday, which is included with your Compass membership).
Your calendar can become your wisest teacher if you let it. Start using it to record where you’ve been and where you are going. Use it as a log to capture your daily activities.
Keep it simple. When I sit and watch “The Big Bang Theory” on Tuesday evenings, I make a small note in my calendar, TV time 1 hour, sometimes 2. I enjoy this show and I don’t feel one ounce of guilt about being a couch potato for a little while because I have time set aside for my business as well as other priorities. I’m not using TV to escape my life, I’m enjoying my time on the couch.
So go ahead and take an honest look at your calendar. Review the current week. Does it reflect how you actually spent your time? If not, go back and make adjustments. If you spent 5 hours playing World of Warcraft, don’t be embarrassed. (I’m sure YOU didn’t but some people do!). Don’t judge yourself, just write it down in your calendar. You will laugh about it later.

It’s easy to neglect your business this time of year but if your business was a plant would you place it in the closet and neglected it for a month? Chances are it would die. Don’t let that happen to your business. You may not have as much time to devote to your business this month, but give it some time and attention….keep it alive. Two hours a week minimum, maybe even three or four. That’s all it takes to keep your business going through the holiday.
Reach up to your sponsor and ask for help. (Compass team – put my cell number on speed dial). Stay in action – even if you have to cut back. Don’t lose site of your goals.
During this busy month of December, enjoy your business and your life.
